About
Description
REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program in Fallbrook, CA is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of disabled children and adults through therapeutic equine-assisted activities. With a mission to provide a wide range of benefits, including improved muscle tone, balance, coordination, speech and language development, and increased body awareness and self-esteem, REINS offers therapeutic riding as an intense form of therapy. Currently, REINS serves nearly 200 weekly students from Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties.
The program is supported by over 100 dedicated volunteers who assist in various aspects. Since its establishment in 1984, REINS has grown significantly, moving to its permanent property in Fallbrook in 1999 and paying off its mortgage in 2009 thanks to a generous donation. This allows them to focus on expanding the program, welcoming more students, and enhancing the quality of therapy.
Therapeutic horseback riding at REINS benefits individuals with various disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, head injuries, hearing or visual impairments, multiple sclerosis, seizure disorders, speech and learning disabilities, and sensory integration dysfunction. The rhythmic motion and warmth of the horse stimulate and exercise the rider's muscles, while the different gaits provide a wide range of sensory input. Lessons are held throughout the week and Saturday, offering individuals the opportunity to experience the therapy firsthand.
