Roulette is an artist-run venue dedicated to supporting the creation of new and adventurous art across various disciplines. With a mission to provide artists with the resources they need to realize their creative visions, Roulette aims to cultivate an audience interested in the evolution of experimental art. Established in 1978 during the alternative space movement, Roulette quickly became a safe haven for risk and discovery, where artists could explore new territory and cross-pollinate ideas.

Over the years, Roulette has evolved and expanded its offerings. In 2010, it found its permanent home in Downtown Brooklyn, a 400-seat, 1927 beaux-arts theater that was renovated to become one of the best-equipped and best-sounding venues in New York. Today, Roulette hosts over 120 music, dance, and intermedia performances annually, along with community and rental events.

It also offers a monthly podcast, weekly and monthly radio shows, and weekly TV segments. Notably, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Roulette began live streaming performances for free, ensuring that avant-garde performance remains accessible to a wider audience.
