The S. C. Sea Grant Consortium is a state agency established in 1978 to manage the NOAA National Sea Grant College Program for South Carolina. Their integrated research, education, and extension programs aim to generate and apply science-based information on coastal and marine issues.

Together, they collaborate on research and outreach efforts to improve the social and economic well-being of coastal residents and promote the optimal use and conservation of marine and coastal natural resources. As part of the South Atlantic Sea Grant Region, the Consortium also partners with other Sea Grant programs to implement regional research and outreach programs. They actively contribute to the development and implementation of legislation to support their endeavors, and their work is guided by their core focus areas.
