About
Description
SECEP (Southeastern Cooperative Educational Programs) is a public body established in 1978 by the school systems of Chesapeake, Franklin, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. With financial assistance from the Virginia Department of Education, SECEP offers programs for children with special needs in coordination with these school systems. SECEP operates under a Joint Board, which consists of a lay member from each participating school board, and a Committee of Superintendents, consisting of the superintendents from the participating school systems.
These boards collaborate to make policy decisions and recommend program activities, budgets, and personnel actions. SECEP currently offers five programs: The Re-ED Program, the Autism Spectrum Program (ASP), Educational and Behavioral Interventions for Challenging Students (EBICS), Tidewater Regional Alternative Education Program (TRAEP), and Raising Expectations and Abilities for Children with Complex Health needs (REACH). The organization is dedicated to providing an inclusive online environment and ensuring accessibility for all visitors to its website.
