The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA) is a renowned organization dedicated to promoting, advancing, and supporting science fiction and fantasy writing worldwide. Our mission is to educate and inform the general public while empowering and assisting writers in the genre. We offer a wide range of products and services to fulfill this purpose.

At SFWA, we host the prestigious Nebula Awards during our annual SFWA Nebula Conference, recognizing exceptional works in the field. We also provide support to our members through the Speakers Bureau and assist in legal disputes. Additionally, we administer grants to support the SFF community and aid members facing medical or legal expenses.

Novice authors can take advantage of our Information Center, while aspiring writers benefit from the well-known Writer Beware resources. SFWA facilitates valuable networking and knowledge sharing through online discussion boards, private convention suites, and various informal gatherings. Membership with SFWA is open to authors, artists, editors, and industry professionals who meet our eligibility requirements.

Founded in 1965 as the Science Fiction Writers of America, we later became the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1991. Today, we are home to over 2,300 authors, artists, and allied professionals, making us one of the most effective non-profit writers' organizations worldwide.
