SLoFIG, the Sustainable Local Food Investment Group, is a network of accredited independent investors dedicated to re-establishing a robust and sustainable food system in the Chicago foodshed. Our mission is to identify and support promising start-up and early stage companies in the food industry by providing capital, expertise, and a strong network of contacts. We invest in companies across the entire food value chain, including production, farming, urban agriculture, processing, distribution, and retail.

Our financing structure is flexible, allowing us to maximize value for both us and our investees. Investments range from as little as $25k to as much as $500k, and each member is free to invest, or not, in any presented opportunities. As a member-managed group, we combine our resources and expertise to make informed investment decisions.

We welcome accredited investors from diverse backgrounds and prioritize the improvement of our local food supply while also seeking financial returns. Membership requirements include accreditation, regular attendance at meetings, and a commitment to invest approximately $75k over a 3-year period.
