SPCA International, founded in 2006, is a global organization dedicated to advancing the safety and well-being of animals. The first SPCA was established in England in 1824 to address the mistreatment of carriage horses.

This success led to the expansion of the Society's efforts to include other animals, eventually leading to the founding of the first American SPCA in 1866. They provide financial assistance to struggling animal welfare organizations through grants, improving physical conditions and enhancing spay/neuter programs to reduce euthanasia rates.

Additionally, SPCA International launched Patriot Pets (formerly Operation Baghdad Pups: Worldwide), a program that provides veterinary care, clearance, and transport for animals befriended by U. S. This program not only saves the lives of these animals but also offers comfort and peace of mind to the soldiers.
