About
Description
Tasveer is a prominent brand in the Greater Seattle Area that plays a vital role in lending a voice and an ear to inspire social change. Founded in 2002 by Farah Nousheen and Rita Meher, Tasveer aims to reshape the narrative surrounding South Asians by showcasing their lives through film, art, and storytelling. Since its inception, Tasveer has become a renowned arts and culture fixture, striving to better represent the underrepresented yet growing South Asian community.
As a Washington state non-profit organization, Tasveer creates innovative platforms such as the Tasveer South Asian Film Festival, Aaina, and Yoni ki Baat, and the Tasveer South Asian LitFest to reflect and highlight the issues faced by the community. Through visual and narrative art, they bridge communities, increase awareness, and initiate dialogues. Tasveer values creativity, high quality, dialogue, education, and inclusivity, aiming to foster shared understanding and build a just society.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Rita Meher, Tasveer continues to provide a platform and funds to filmmakers and storytellers, giving voice to marginalized communities and bringing meaningful films and stories accessible to everyone. Join Tasveer to engage with South Asian culture, change narratives, and be part of a stronger, informed community
