Circuit Cubes is a brand that was originally founded in 2015 by John Schuster and Nate MacDonald. These two passionate individuals, who met while working at a Marin County, CA, school district, were determined to better engage their students in understanding circuits and how they work. Nate was a math teacher who offered an elective STEM course to middle school students, while John was hosting lunch and learn events to teach kids about circuitry alongside his IT job in the district.

Unsatisfied with the existing electronic kits available, they decided to create their own. Their early design was launched at Maker Faire Bay Area 2015, and thus began their first company, IgnitED Learning. Over time, IgnitED evolved into Tenka Inc., with John Schuster leading the product design and business aspects.

To further enhance their product quality and production capabilities, Circuit Cubes partnered with Musical Ltd, a renowned Hong Kong-based toy and consumer electronics manufacturing company.
