Belle, a beloved figure in the community. Tragically, he was shot dead in 1960, prompting the West Side to establish a community center in his honor. Since then, The Belle Center has been a resilient asset to the Lower West Side, constantly adapting to the evolving needs of the community.

Services such as tutoring for children and English language learning classes have been offered for decades. Reincorporated in 2002, The Belle Center remains committed to honoring Fr. Belle's legacy by providing comprehensive services and empowering the community to thrive.
