The Book Bus is a registered charity founded in 2008 by publisher Tom Maschler. With the mission to tackle illiteracy, The Book Bus believes access to books is essential in unlocking a world of pleasure and opportunities. The organization started its work in Zambia, delivering books and collaborating with teachers and volunteers to promote children's literacy.

Over the past twelve years, their fleet of five buses has traveled an impressive 250,000 miles, extending their reading programs to Malawi and Ecuador. Thanks to the support of volunteers, teachers, and generous donors, The Book Bus has reached over 100,000 children, improving their reading abilities and instilling a passion for learning and literacy skills within their communities.
