Prior to The INN Between, there was no suitable solution for housing terminally ill homeless individuals, resulting in an alarming number of deaths annually.

They follow the hospice philosophy, providing holistic care that addresses emotional, social, and spiritual needs, in addition to medical symptoms. As the only medical respite and end-of-life care facility for the homeless in the greater Salt Lake area, The INN Between plays a crucial role. They work collaboratively with other homeless service agencies to ensure vulnerable individuals are placed in a safe and appropriate environment.

The services they offer include stable housing, transportation to medical appointments, intensive case management, substance use recovery support, and access to Medicaid and Disability Income benefits. They also provide nutritious meals through partnerships with the Utah Food Bank, The Other Side Academy, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Bishop's Storehouse. The INN Between's focus is on providing dignity at the end-of-life, acting as a temporary housing solution that gives homeless individuals access to professional hospice care.

Licensed agencies provide hospice services such as nurse and doctor visits, pain and anxiety management, home medical equipment, and comprehensive emotional, social, and spiritual support. In collaboration with Intermountain Healthcare, they provide charity hospice care to uninsured residents. The INN Between also offers end-of-life support through their certified End of Life Doula, who provides individualized support for residents preparing for the end.

They facilitate reconnections with estranged family members and ensure no one dies alone by having No One Dies Alone (NODA) volunteers sit bedside. After a death, they hold a community memorial service and honor the resident in their Memorial Garden.
