Description

Tobacco Plains Indian Band is a self-governing community dedicated to improving the health, safety, education, and financial security of its people while preserving their cultural and traditional ways. With a history spanning over 10,000 years, the Ktunaxa people have inhabited the lands adjacent to the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers and the Arrow Lakes of British Columbia. Their traditional territory extends across approximately 70,000 square kilometers, including areas in Alberta, Montana, Washington, and Idaho.

As part of the Ktunaxa Nation, Tobacco Plains Band is committed to promoting the well-being of its community. They offer various departments and services, including Social & Education, Governance, Chief and Council, Membership, Administration, Health & Wellness, Housing & Infrastructure, Land & Resources, and Economic Development. By combining the wisdom passed down from their elders with modern technology, the Ktunaxa people strive to ensure the survival of their unique language, Ktunaxa.
