UMSATS, the University of Manitoba Space Applications and Technology Society, is a leading interdisciplinary student group at the University of Manitoba. Comprised of dedicated and ambitious students from various faculties, including Engineering, Physics, Biology, Business, Education, and Kinesiology, UMSATS offers an exciting platform for students to delve into the world of space technology. Since its establishment in 2010, UMSATS has made remarkable strides in the field. Notably, they have developed four iterations of their TSAT nano satellite, with TSAT 4 winning first place at the prestigious Canadian Satellite Design Challenge in 2018.
Currently, UMSATS is working on their newest and most ambitious project to date, TSAT 6, which builds upon their previous achievements. In addition to their nano satellite projects, UMSATS has recently ventured into the dynamic realm of rocketry. They successfully launched their inaugural rocket, Winnie, at the renowned 2019 Spaceport America Cup and are now actively preparing for participation in the upcoming Spaceport America Cup and Launch Canada competitions.
