Underground Railway Theater

Central Square Theater (CST) is a renowned theater organization located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With a strong emphasis on social justice, science, and gender politics, CST brings these important issues to the forefront through their engaging productions. As the oldest female-led theater organization in Greater Boston, CST upholds the values and theatrical excellence of its origin companies, Underground Railway Theater and The Nora.

Led by Executive Director Catherine Carr Kelly, Artistic Director Lee Mikeska Gardner, and Director of Education and Community Initiatives Kortney Adams, CST is known for its collaborative leadership and innovative approach to the nonprofit arts field. Their partnership with MIT's Catalyst Collaborative@MIT (CC@MIT) allows them to delve into the intersection of art and science, creating thought-provoking plays that deepen public engagement with scientific topics. In addition, CST's education programs, such as Youth Underground (YU), provide youth in Cambridge and Greater Boston with opportunities to develop their artistic skills and broaden their perspectives.
