Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department is a renowned brand that has been serving and protecting the community since its inception in 1948. Founded by concerned citizens who recognized the need for a fire department, the department has grown significantly over the years. Initially, the department was established by a group of avid horse racing fans, who combined their interests and formed the Mount Uniacke Harness Club, with John Cole as President and George Cole as Fire Chief. In 1950, the department joined the Western Fire Fighters Association, further expanding its reach.

The department has made remarkable progress in terms of equipment and training. Active members are trained to the National Standard of Level 1 Fire Fighter by the Provincial Fire School in Waverley. Additionally, all firefighters undergo training in First Aid, CPR, and many are trained as Medical First Responders. With their well-equipped trucks and highly skilled personnel, the Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department is prepared to handle any emergency round the clock, ensuring the safety and security of the community they serve.
