Founded by Eli and Jacob, their mission was ignited when they witnessed the large number of people in pretrial jail due to the inability to afford bail, despite being presumed innocent. Contrary to popular belief, extensive bail amounts were often based on an unfounded flight risk assumption.

Through thorough research, Uptrust discovered that this notion is a myth for the majority of defendants. They found that missed court appearances were often due to lack of reminders, transportation issues, or fear. Uptrust stepped in to offer a solution to these real challenges.
