The name itself has an interesting history, originating from Club Vagabond in Leysin, Switzerland, where they both spent time in the 70s. Inspired by the club's legacy as a climbing club and a popular spot for backpackers, Lori and Ken felt it was important to carry on the name with Vagabond. The lodge's construction was a labour of love, with Lori overseeing the project while Ken worked in Edmonton.

With the support of their youngest son and a dedicated team, it took only a year to build the lodge, making it the first overnight accommodation at Kicking Horse Resort. With 19 years of hospitality excellence, Vagabond Lodge continues to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, allowing guests to create unforgettable memories in the breathtaking setting of Golden, BC
