About

Description

Veac, short for Visalia Emergency Aid Council, has been serving the community of Tulare County since 1931. Their mission is to provide nutritious food and overall support to low-income families and the working poor, while also maintaining their dignity. Starting as a group of compassionate and forward-thinking women called Associated Charities, Veac initially gathered essential resources like food, blankets, and firewood for impoverished families who migrated to California seeking a better life during the Dust Bowl era.

As the number of families in need grew, Visalia Emergency Aid was formed. Today, Veac's services have evolved to address the changing face of hunger and poverty in the community. They now offer homeless prevention programs, job training, and various health and human services.

Located in an impoverished Visalia neighborhood, their Client Services Center is conveniently accessible to those they serve. Veac continues to carry forward the vision of its founders, striving for a future where everyone has the opportunity to rise above poverty and live in a secure, hopeful, and hunger-free community. Donations to Veac can be made through various channels, and their Thrift Store offers a wide range of items.

With over 91 years of experience, Veac remains committed to uplifting lives and making a lasting impact in Tulare County
