Voice For The Animals Foundation (VFTA) is a 501c3 non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to promoting respect and empathy for animals. Founded by Melyá in 1999, VFTA was established with the aim of filling a gap in animal protection organizations by empowering individuals to make a difference. VFTA provides a range of programs and services, including a Hotline where the public can receive live assistance, a Humane Education Program to cultivate compassion in students, and the Helping Friends Program, which offers food and veterinary care to those in need to help them care for their animals.

Additionally, VFTA runs the Working Cats Program, which rescues feral cats and places them in homes to control rodents, and the Abuse Prevention Program, which collaborates with city agencies to combat animal abuse. The foundation also produces films through the Animal Film Program to raise awareness about animal issues. Moreover, VFTA is involved in the VFTA Worldwide Program, which is training the Hellenic police in Greece to investigate animal abuse.

In recognition of its commitment and impact, VFTA has received awards and commendations, including the Commendation of Excellence from the City of Los Angeles in 2010. With a belief in the sacredness of all life, VFTA seeks to create a world where animals are not neglected or destroyed
