Inspired by the pioneering broadcaster Alan Whicker, The Whickers aim to support emerging film and audio documentary-makers in the production of authored programs. The brand is committed to using Alan Whicker's generous legacy to provide funding and production support for director-led programs around the world.

The Whickers offer two annual awards: the Film & TV Funding Award and the Radio and Audio Funding Award. Additionally, they run a Bursary Scheme in regions where funding for documentary is limited. The Whickers strive to encourage the making of quality documentaries by emerging film and audio talent, recognizing the challenges faced by today's documentary-makers.
