Description

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), also known as the Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal (OMSA), is the global authority on animal health. Founded in 1924 as the Office International des Epizooties (OIE), it adopted the name World Organisation for Animal Health in 2003. WOAH is an intergovernmental organisation that focuses on transparently disseminating information on animal diseases to improve animal health worldwide and create a safer, healthier, and more sustainable world.

WOAH works to improve animal health and welfare globally through various programs. It collects, analyzes, and disseminates veterinary scientific information to encourage international solidarity in controlling animal health risks. Additionally, it fosters a One Health approach, recognizing the interdependence of animal, human, and environmental health.

WOAH offers programs to empower and guide countries in developing and implementing sustainable national plans to improve veterinary and aquatic animal health services. Through their efforts, WOAH aims to enhance the capacities of Veterinary Services and Aquatic Animal Health Services, going beyond veterinary matters to build a resilient and thriving global community
