About

Description

The Worcester Refugee Assistance Project (WRAP) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to assisting refugees and resettled migrants in Worcester. WRAP's mission is to support these individuals in achieving sustainable self-reliance through mentoring, advocacy, and educational assistance. WRAP works collaboratively with other organizations and individuals to complement and enhance their efforts in helping refugees.

Currently, WRAP focuses primarily on providing education and mentorship programs for Burmese refugees and newly arrived Afghan refugees. They also collaborate with local organizations to meet the growing needs of the refugee community. WRAP's initiatives include a Youth Program that assists Burmese refugees aged 15-24 with schoolwork, employment, and higher education.

They also offer age- and need-specific programs such as the Children's Education Group and Adult Group. Founded by Meredith Walsh and a group of dedicated volunteers, WRAP has expanded its mission to support all newly resettled refugees. The organization relies on volunteers from local schools, universities, religious congregations, and the UMass Medical School.

Join WRAP in their mission to empower refugees and promote sustainable self-reliance. For more information, visit their website or contact them via email at info@worcesterrefugees. org
