About
Description
WUQWATR, also known as the Wascana & Upper Qu'Appelle Watersheds Association Taking Responsibility, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting watershed stewardship through effective communication and programming initiatives. Founded in 2008, WUQWATR's main objective is to protect surface and ground waters within its wide-ranging boundaries, which span from Regina to Humboldt and from Central Butte to Tyvan, encompassing over 23,443 km² and including more than 109 communities. WUQWATR collaborates with individual agricultural producers, government bodies, and industries to ensure sustainable and healthy watersheds.
They offer various programs and services to landowners and municipalities within their jurisdiction, including source water protection, agricultural water management, flood and drought preparedness, and climate change initiatives. Supported by both public and private sector sponsors, WUQWATR follows a Strategic Plan developed by community members from its sub-watersheds: Lanigan/Manitou, Last Mountain Lake, Qu'Appelle River, and Wascana Creek. This plan guides their vision and ensures the implementation of recommendations made by the community.
For more information or to obtain a copy of their Strategic Plan or Source Water Protection Plan, interested individuals can contact WUQWATR via email or phone
