About
Description
WV Recovers is a peer-operated behavioral health advocacy and education organization in West Virginia. As a project of Hampshire County Pathways, Inc., and with funding from Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Agency, WV Recovers works closely with service providers, peers, and professional and community organizations. Their aim is to ensure that mental health and substance use services and systems are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented.
With the mantra Nothing About Us Without Us, WV Recovers promotes consumer involvement in policy and planning at local, state, and national levels. Their journey began with the West Virginia P. E.
E. R Summit, where peers and peer allies from across the region gathered to create a collaborative vision for a peer-powered recovery revolution. Since then, they have developed a strategy to strengthen the position of West Virginia peers on their journey toward wellness and recovery, including the establishment of a statewide peer-run organization.
WV Recovers believes that recovery is a process, not a destination, and aims to provide access to multiple pathways of support and healing. Their services include linkage and referral to treatment, peer support services and resources, quality peer support training, technical assistance, mental health education, and an annual statewide peer conference. Their goal is to create a unified recovery community in West Virginia, where individuals can find the support that best suits them on their unique journey to recovery
