About 100 Jahre Flugplatz
The “100 Jahre Flugplatz St. Gallen-Altenrhein” initiative celebrates the history and regional importance of the St. Gallen-Altenrhein airfield in Switzerland.
Organised by the association Verein 100 Jahre Flugplatz St. Gallen-Altenrhein, it brings together aviation enthusiasts, local communities and visitors from across the border regions of eastern Switzerland, Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein. Its central offering is a programme of anniversary events highlighting a century of aviation, including flight displays, historical aircraft and opportunities to learn about the airfield’s heritage.
The celebrations have featured performances by the Patrouille Suisse, the Swiss Air Force’s Super Puma, historic aircraft from the Flying Bulls and a classic formation including a DC-3. The initiative also directs visitors to the Fliegermuseum Altenrhein, where historic aircraft are restored, maintained and flown, and promotes a commemorative book about the airfield’s history. Through event information, media coverage and a newsletter, the organisation shares updates about anniversary activities and the people, aircraft and stories connected to Altenrhein.
Its work presents the airfield as both an aviation landmark and a valued part of regional life
