Frequently asked questions
Your questions, answered
What can I build with Brandfetch?
Brandfetch turns a company identifier into brand data. Teams use it for:
- Sales personalization: Put a prospect's logo and colors on decks, proposals, and emails.
- Onboarding: Fill in a new user's workspace with company data from their work email.
- Company autocomplete: Show matching companies, with logos, as the user types.
- Company directories: Add a logo and brand data to every company record.
- Logo pickers: Let users search for a brand and add its logo.
- Transaction enrichment: Turn raw bank descriptors into merchant names and logos.
- Stock ticker logos: Show company logos in portfolios, watchlists, and trading apps.
- AI grounding: Give LLMs and agents real brand context about the company they're working with.
Which Brandfetch API should I use?
Pick by what you have and what you need back:
- Logo API: you only need a logo in your UI. Send a domain, ticker, ISIN, or crypto symbol.
- Brand Search API: you only have a company name. Search by name and get the domain.
- Brand API: you need the full brand. Logos, colors, fonts, and company data in one call.
- Brand Context API: your AI needs the company's mission, voice, audience, and positioning.
- Transaction API: you have raw transaction strings. Get the merchant and its logo.
What's the difference between a client ID and an API key?
A client ID is free and safe to use in the browser. The Logo API and Brand Search API use it. An API key is secret and belongs on your server. Brand API, Brand Context API, and Transaction API use it.
What's free, and what's paid?
Logo API and Brand Search API are free. Brand API, Brand Context API, and Transaction API are paid.
- Logo API: free up to 1M requests a month.
- Brand Search API: free up to 500K requests a month.
- Brand API and Brand Context API: 100 free brand fetches to start, one time. Paid plans start at $99/month, billed yearly, for 2,500 brand fetches a month.
- Transaction API: custom plans only.
What counts as a brand fetch?
One request to Brand API, Brand Context API, or Transaction API is one brand fetch. Each brand fetch costs one credit.
A brand subscribed to webhooks costs one credit a month. MCP requests count the same as API requests.
HEAD prefetches and 204 responses don't count. Logo API and Brand Search API requests don't either. They have their own quotas.
Can I cache Brandfetch data?
You can cache the logos from a Brand API response for up to 30 days. Logo API images work differently. Load them from the Brandfetch CDN every time. Don't download them or host copies. Brand Search API icon URLs expire after 24 hours, so store the domain instead.
How do I get started?
Register for a free client ID at developers.brandfetch.com/register. That's enough for the Logo API and Brand Search API. For Brand API, Brand Context API, or Transaction API, you'll also need an API key.
