The 100memories initiative, commemorating a century of migration in Greek history, showcases a dynamic project launched by the Institute of Historical Research in collaboration with social cooperatives Sociality and Commonspace. With a focus on the historical and contemporary migrations that have shaped Greece, this project aims to document, digitize, and promote the stories and cultural heritage related to these movements.

Key activities are centered around major port cities including Volos, Thessaloniki, Piraeus, and Chania. The project features several digital platforms: 100Sources, a repository of cultural heritage; 100Reflections, an educational platform for workshops and material sharing; and 100Places, which highlights both physical and digital routes to explore migratory memories.

Engaging the public through both physical and digital storytelling, 100memories integrates methodologies from history, social anthropology, geography, and cultural technology, making history accessible and relevant for all. This innovative approach is co-funded by the European Union and aims to enhance knowledge and appreciation of Greece’s migratory past.
