101 Academy

101 Academy is a community-based Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym in Calgary, welcoming students from complete beginners through to black belts. Led by Professor CJ and a team of coaches, the academy emphasizes supportive instruction, personal growth, and a friendly team atmosphere. Members can learn practical self-defense, improve fitness, build strength, and develop confidence through training suited to different experience and fitness levels.

Programs include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in both gi and no-gi formats, children’s classes focused on discipline, good habits, and confidence, and women-only classes in a welcoming environment. For students interested in competition, the gym offers tailored preparation and game planning. Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction for those seeking focused improvement or competition coaching. The academy also welcomes visitors to drop in and take part in training.

101 Academy recognizes that students balance training with work and family commitments; its site notes that meaningful progress is possible with two to three sessions per week.
