Founded by owner and producer Kerry Thornhill in 2012, the brand pays homage to her maternal grandparents and their decades-long support to Asherton and its community. The brand's first commercial production of extra virgin olive oil was harvested in Fall 2016 and bottled as 1836: A TEXAS OLIVE COMPANY.
Since then, it has expanded its reach, with a retail presence in gourmet shops across Houston, Austin, and Central Texas. Notably, 1836 became the official Texas olive oil vendor for Williams Sonoma's Texas stores. The brand's commitment to the Texas olive industry and support for local agriculture and women farmers is unwavering.
