The Eerste Kamer der Staten-Generaal, or Dutch Senate, is the upper house of the Netherlands’ national parliament. Its website provides information about the Senate’s role, procedures, membership, committees, history, elections and organization. It also offers public resources explaining how the Senate works and how people can visit, alongside information about employment and the renovation of the Binnenhof.

The Senate reviews proposed legislation and conducts debates, votes and committee meetings. The website helps visitors follow this work through schedules, livestreams, voting results, meeting reports and debate recordings. Its parliamentary document services include access to bills, written and interpellation questions, motions, government commitments, petitions, incoming letters and reports. News updates cover committee activity, legislative progress and other matters before the Senate.

Additional resources connect visitors to Europapoort, the Senate’s European website, and the shared States General website for both parliamentary chambers. The site also features the Derde Kamer educational package, which introduces primary-school pupils to Dutch democracy. Information is available in Dutch and English.
