About 206 Zulu
206 Zulu is a Seattle-based community organization that is dedicated to uplifting, preserving, and celebrating Hip Hop culture. Established in 2004, 206 Zulu uses Hip Hop culture and the arts as platforms for community service, education, and empowerment. Their diverse membership has expanded throughout the Pacific Northwest, and they offer a wide array of programs and events.
These include free and all-ages events, concerts, festivals, parades, dance competitions, workshops, classes, conferences, multimedia programs, and more. 206 Zulu also manages the historic Washington Hall, a venue and community space that has been a hub for artists, musicians, activists, and communities of color since 1908. As a nonprofit organization, 206 Zulu is committed to working with and empowering local communities.
They provide youth programs, projects, and resources to inspire young people to get involved in social action, civic service, cultural creativity, and self-education. 206 Zulu's efforts in Hip Hop organizing and community service have been recognized and applauded by various organizations and publications.
