Nijushi no Hitomi Movie Village is a film and literature-themed visitor attraction in the Tanooura area of Shodoshima, Japan. Set on a roughly 10,000-square-metre coastal site overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, it preserves and reimagines the open-air set built for the film Twenty-Four Eyes. Visitors can explore nostalgic wooden school buildings, homes, a tea shop and other village scenes inspired by the Taisho and early Showa periods. The location has also been used for other films and television productions, including The Eighth Day.
The village offers several cultural and entertainment experiences. Tsuboi Sakae Literature Museum displays the author’s personal furnishings and original manuscripts, while the Shochikuza cinema regularly screens Twenty-Four Eyes. At Kinema no Ie, guests can discover films from Japan’s 1950s cinema and enjoy a retro school-lunch set. Other attractions include galleries, exhibitions, a figure collection, kimono rental and boat services. Visitors can also dine at the on-site restaurant, browse souvenir shops and a book café, and sample items such as soy-sauce soft-serve ice cream.
