3SR is a renowned laboratory affiliated with the Université Grenoble Alpes. With a focus on soil, solids, structures, and risks, 3SR offers a wide range of services and products in the field of geomechanics and multi-physical mechanics.

One of their notable achievements is the development of BeFC (Bioenzymatic Fuel Cells), a sustainable energy solution that converts glucose into electricity using enzymes and bio-sourced paper. This innovative technology can power electronic chips with features like humidity and temperature sensors, as well as GPS, Bluetooth, and LoRaWAN transmission systems.

The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge facilities, including RX Tomography, Neutron Tomography, and Optical Devices, to study and simulate the behavior of materials and structures under various environmental and extreme conditions.

3SR comprises three research teams: CoMHet, specializing in multi-scale mechanics and multiphysics coupling; Géomécanique, focusing on geo-materials and their interactions; and RV, dedicated to characterizing and modeling the behavior of materials and structures under different loading conditions.
