Associació 4 Petjades Animals is a nonprofit animal welfare association focused on rescuing companion animals, especially dogs and cats, from abuse and abandonment. Working in Catalonia and, when needed, other parts of Spain, it takes on difficult cases, including animals with serious health problems or histories of mistreatment. The association provides or coordinates care and rehabilitation, then seeks suitable foster or adoptive homes. Its adoption process promotes responsible ownership through detailed applications, home visits and follow-up. Animals are placed under contract and are microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed; they are also sterilised or adopted with a contractual commitment to sterilisation when their age or health prevents it immediately.

Beyond rescue and rehoming, the association raises awareness about animal welfare and advocates for stronger legal protections, including reporting cases through the courts. It funds its work through member contributions, public donations, fundraising events and a small-donation community programme, rather than grants or subsidies.
