Ontario 511 is Ontario’s traveller information service, helping residents and visitors make informed decisions about travel across the province. Its website and free mobile app provide current road and transit information, including traffic speeds, collisions, closures, construction, road conditions, weather and camera images. Travellers can view a real-time map, check travel times and plan routes based on current conditions, with options such as avoiding tolls and adding waypoints.
The app includes images from more than 900 cameras and offers a drive mode with hands-free audio alerts. Ontario 511 also shares information useful to commercial drivers, including truck rest areas, inspection stations, seasonal load restrictions and restricted tow zones. Other resources cover ferries, transit hubs, carpool lots, remote airports, public rest areas, border wait times, emergency detours, forest fires and flooding.
Users can create an account to save routes, customize camera views and receive notifications about events along a route. Ontario 511 also provides incident reporting, traveller alerts, FAQs, terminology and API documentation for developers
