Project 90 by 2030 is a social and environmental justice organization dedicated to inspiring and mobilizing South African society towards a sustainable and equitable low-carbon future. Through a Just Energy Transition, we collaborate with stakeholders and decision-makers to identify policies and actions that promote climate justice. Our focus is on developing environmental leadership in youth and increasing public engagement to address climate change, energy poverty, and social injustices within communities.

At Project 90 by 2030, our name is derived from George Monbiot's book Heat, which emphasizes the need for a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 to avoid catastrophic effects. Our mission is to bring about significant positive change in the way we interact with the environment and each other. We envision a South African society committed to a sustainably developed and equitable low-carbon future by embracing a 90% change in our approach by 2030.

Our work primarily centers around climate change, energy poverty, and the intersecting social injustices. Through a people-centered approach, we engage young South Africans, under-represented communities, and civil society organizations to shape energy policies and create lasting impact. Project 90 by 2030 is a registered Public Benefit Organization and a Non-Profit Organization, promoting an environment of respect, cooperation, and tolerance.
