About The 93% Club
The 93% Club is a members' club dedicated to addressing class inequality in Britain by fostering a strong sense of community. Our aim is to break down the structural barriers to social mobility and create a fairer future for the next generation. We bring together thousands of like-minded individuals who attended state schools from across the country.
Our story began in 2016 when our founder, Sophie Pender, felt out of place among her predominantly affluent peers at the University of Bristol. To create a community for students who didn't have the same background, Sophie started The 93% Club as a Facebook group. The movement quickly gained traction, and by 2018, we had a second club in Durham, marking the beginning of our national expansion.
In 2020, we adapted to the challenges posed by the pandemic and expanded virtually, reaching over 10,000 students at more than 45 universities. We secured funding from prominent organizations, established our first training and networking initiatives, and officially became a registered charity, The 93% Foundation. Now, we have transformed our student network into a members' club for state-educated individuals across the UK.
Our team consists of passionate individuals, from student volunteers to senior leaders, who are committed to making a social impact and solving the country's social mobility problem. Join us in our mission to create a more equitable society. Apply for membership and become a part of our story today
