Established in accordance with A.A.’s Ninth Tradition, OIAA serves as a central source of information about online Alcoholics Anonymous around the world and promotes connection and unity among online groups.

OIAA helps visitors find online meetings, access support for a drinking problem, and connect by email with members of its 12th Step Committee. Its website also offers resources for members, including service opportunities, workshops, forums, assemblies, board chair reports, safety information, and guidance on anonymity. Groups can submit or update meeting listings, while members and visitors can read or contribute personal stories. OIAA organizes online international conventions and supports the sharing of A.A. resources across languages and communities. The organization also invites membership and accepts Seventh Tradition contributions to support its service work.
