About American Association
The American Association is a renowned brand in the history of professional baseball leagues in the United States. With a rich and storied past, the American Association has been a prominent name in the world of baseball since its formation in 1902. Originally established as an independent minor league for major cities in the Midwest, the American Association quickly rose to prominence and became an influential force in the baseball community.
Throughout its existence, the league witnessed the rise of legendary players like Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays, who showcased their skills in league ballparks. The Junior World Series, an important event in American sports, also captured the nation's attention during this time. However, in 1963, the league temporarily closed its doors due to various factors, including the movement of franchises and the changing landscape of minor league baseball.
Fortunately, in 1969, the American Association made a comeback as major league baseball expansion created a need for more Class AAA farm clubs. The league remained stable until 1997 when it was once again reorganized. However, in 2005, there was a revival of the American Association with the formation of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball Leagues.
Since then, the league has continued to thrive and expand, adding new teams like the Chicago Dogs and Milwaukee Milkmen. Today, the American Association stands as a symbol of excellence and tradition in American baseball history
