Founded in 2008 in Meknes, Morocco, AALIM is a world leader in study abroad.

Our academic director, Dr. Driss Cherkaoui, a native Moroccan with a PhD in Arabic literature, ensures that our instruction is rigorous and structured while also providing engaging cultural exchange opportunities. We offer both in-person and online programs year round.

In addition to our language instruction, AALIM partners with colleges, universities, international organizations, and governments to offer comprehensive study abroad experiences. Our on-site programs include classroom instruction, conversation practice with language partners, cultural activities, excursions, and lodging with host families. We've also become pioneers in virtual Arabic learning and cultural exchange, utilizing the latest technologies to provide online programs in Arabic language and Moroccan culture.

Our language instructors have special training in teaching Arabic and understand the needs of American students. We offer courses in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) at all levels, as well as an innovative Moroccan Arabic (Darija) course. Our curriculum is aligned with internationally-recognized standards, and students' progress is verified by outside assessors.

Our small class sizes ensure personalized attention, and we encourage students to practice their language skills with language partners and explore Morocco. In addition to language immersion, we offer academic content courses in collaboration with Moulay Ismail University in Meknes. These courses cover a range of topics, such as history, religion, and the environment, and are conducted in the target language.

To enhance the learning experience, we organize cultural programs that showcase various aspects of Moroccan culture, including culinary tutorials, musical concerts, art lessons, holiday celebrations, and wedding traditions. Upon successful completion of our courses, students receive official transcripts. We also have partnerships with government, university, and high school organizations, making the AALIM experience diverse, practical, and engaging.
