The African-American Memorabilia Museum & Cultural Arts Center (AAMMCAC) is a California-based organization dedicated to preserving African-American history and culture. Guided by the idea of Sankofa—returning to the past to move forward—the center promotes family reunification, personal and social empowerment, and alternative education for Americans and the African Diaspora. Its work encourages visitors to confront the painful chapters of the nation’s history while recognizing the experiences and contributions of African-American communities.
AAMMCAC presents a cultural and educational journey through a collection of more than 20,000 artifacts, including African-American memorabilia, historical objects, and retrospective art. Its museum gallery and exhibits use striking imagery and tangible objects to document social history, share historical stories, and illuminate cultural triumph. Visitors are invited to see, touch, and engage with the materials, using the experience to deepen understanding and support reflection and healing. Through its museum, gallery, cultural arts, and educational offerings, AAMMCAC aims to help people discover, learn, share, and inspire a fuller understanding of African-American history.
