Aan de Zessprong is a horse retirement home located on a farm in the Achterhoek region of the Netherlands, between Zelhem and Hengelo. Set amid open countryside near the woods and heathland of nature reserve ’t Zand, the farm offers a peaceful setting for horses enjoying their later years. The owners created the farm as a place with space, animals and greenery, and they welcome owners seeking a caring retirement home for their horse.
Horses live outdoors in a small herd, with access to a field shelter and opportunities for social contact and free movement. The care approach includes unlimited roughage and positive mental stimulation, alongside personal attention. The aim is to support horses’ wellbeing and provide the conditions they need for a comfortable retirement. The farm is also home to chickens, pond fish and a dog.
Aan de Zessprong shares information about its facilities, the people caring for the horses and farm news.
