About Aangan NYC
Aangan NYC is an organization dedicated to promoting South Asian art, artists, and aesthetes from all backgrounds. Their mission is to build a strong community by fostering learning and dialogue across various art forms. Aangan creates spaces for artists to convene, collaborate, present, and reflect on their work.
Founded by Shachi Phene and Barkha Patel, who are professional dancers in New York City, Aangan was born out of their desire for a stronger community, better platforms, and resources for their work, as well as more knowledgeable conversations around South Asian art. They realized the need for an organization that would provide the space and resources needed to develop South Asian art in the US, serving both the makers and enthusiasts. Aangan believes in building community by working with the community.
If you are interested in learning more about their work or getting involved, you can reach out to them at nycaangan@gmail. com. They love meeting fellow art lovers!
