Australian Animal Protection Society (AAPS) cares for homeless animals while aiming to find their purrfect furever homes. Although most animals in AAPS’s care are dogs, cats, & rabbits, the shelter accepts all animals in need. AAPS was established over fifty years ago and is a community-based, registered charity that relies almost entirely upon volunteers and community support. AAPS works closely with many animal welfare organisations to provide protection, assistance, and welfare for the animals that come into our care.

About Australian Animal Protection Society
The Australian Animal Protection Society (AAPS) is a registered charity and community-based organization dedicated to animal welfare and protection. Founded over 50 years ago by a group of passionate individuals, AAPS strives to provide a safe haven and loving care for homeless animals in the South Eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria. At AAPS, our shelter offers a nurturing environment for a variety of animals in need, including dogs, cats, rabbits, native animals, farm animals, birds, ferrets, and other domesticated animals.
Our goal is to reunite these animals with their owners or find them forever homes. As a non-government funded organization, AAPS heavily relies on the support of volunteers and the community. We collaborate closely with other animal welfare organizations to ensure the protection, assistance, and welfare of all animals.
Under the leadership of CEO Megan Seccull, AAPS has made significant strides in expanding its services. These include the establishment of a Vet Clinic, signing contracts for Perry Road, and maintaining operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
