About Moorabbbin Air Museum
Welcome to the Moorabbin Air Museum, located at Moorabbin Airport in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. As one of Australia's premier aviation museums, we boast an extensive collection of aircraft and engines, making us a must-visit destination for aviation enthusiasts. Our museum provides public access to a diverse range of aircraft on display, offering visitors the opportunity to interact and experience the life of a Military, Naval, or Civilian pilot.
Founded in 1962, our dedicated team of volunteers and members has expanded our collection to include not just aircraft and engines, but also models, uniforms, and various other artifacts associated with Australia's rich aviation history. Our mission at the Moorabbin Air Museum is to collect, preserve, and display aircraft and artifacts that represent Australian Aviation Heritage. We aim to educate and inspire future generations about the pathways in aviation.
Among our collection, you'll find several rare and unique examples of Australian-made aircraft, including the oldest surviving Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) aircraft, Wirraway A20-10, as well as a DAP Mk21 Beaufighter, and a Victa AirTourer. We also own the oldest surviving DAP/Bristol Beaufort, which is currently undergoing a restoration project. In addition to our fascinating exhibits, we offer a shop and kiosk facility where you can enjoy drinks, snacks, and even purchase books, posters, model kits, or complete aircraft models for your personal collection.
Please note that due to limited display and restoration facilities, not all aircraft are currently on display. However, we have partnered with the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group to ensure that select aircraft from our collection can be enjoyed at other museums. We are a registered Not-For-Profit Charity with Deductible Gift Recipient Status 1 and 4, and we acknowledge the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation as Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land.
