Århus Shotokan

Aarhus Shotokan Karate-Do is one of Denmark’s oldest karate clubs, founded in 1972 in Aarhus. Its motto, “Karate is for everyone,” reflects a community that welcomes children, young people, students and adults, including members of the national team. The club offers Shotokan karate training for a range of ages and experience levels, from young beginners and children’s classes to adult beginner groups and advanced practitioners.

Dedicated sessions are also available for sport kumite, preparing participants for competition, and for brown and black belts. Training takes place in small groups with skilled, well-qualified instructors who adapt teaching to individual abilities and needs. Newcomers can attend one or two free, non-binding trial sessions, and prospective members with previous karate experience are welcome to join a suitable class without registering in advance.

Students in education can receive a membership discount. The club trains at Kochs School on Sankt Johannes Allé in Aarhus and provides information about karate, grading, equipment, terminology, Japanese language and club activities through its website
