Aars Skakklub

Aars Skakklub is a community chess club serving Aars and the surrounding area, with a history dating back to its founding in 1919. Based at HEG on Ø. Boulevard in Aars, the club welcomes players of all ages and abilities, including complete beginners. Members and visitors meet on Monday evenings for friendly games, instruction and organised competitions, with no need to book before a first visit.

The club offers children’s and youth chess sessions every Monday afternoon, helping young players learn the game and take part in Junior Grand Prix events. For adults and experienced players, its programme includes club tournaments, rapid chess and team competition in the 7th Main District under the Danish Chess Union. Aars fields two teams and also hosts the Himmerland Tournament, a long-running regional event.

Newcomers can receive guidance from experienced members, find a suitable playing partner and learn the rules and opening moves. Aars Skakklub combines competitive chess with an open, sociable atmosphere and invites anyone curious about the game to come along.
