AAVForum

AAVForum, short for African Art in Venice Forum, is a public and free discursive event held every other year in the captivating city of Venice, Italy. It takes place during the opening week of the prestigious Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte di Venezia. The AAVForum serves as a vital platform for presenting and discussing contemporary art from Africa and its diasporas within the context of the Venice Biennale.

The forum was established in 2017 to address the absence of national pavilions and projects representing the rich cultural heritage of the African continent. By bringing together art professionals from around the globe, AAVForum aims to foster a diverse and inclusive dialogue during the Biennale's opening week. Over the past editions, the AAVForum has hosted more than 200 speakers from various continents, sharing their knowledge, experiences, and thought-provoking ideas.

With the participation of over 30,000 art professionals, enthusiasts, and researchers, both physically and online, AAVForum has become a crucial platform for expanding conversations surrounding contemporary African art. By advocating for a broader range of creative practices and cultural dialogues, AAVForum strives to create a balanced and inclusive art ecosystem that addresses individual, societal, and global issues.
