About Alliance Biodigesteur Afrique de l’Ouest et Centre
Alliance Biodigesteur Afrique de l’Ouest et Centre (AB-AOC) is an alliance dedicated to promoting and developing biodigestor technology in the West and Central African regions. The degradation of land and the rapid disappearance of forests in Africa pose significant challenges to food and energy security, as well as household poverty. Recognizing the potential of biodigestor technology to provide viable solutions and increase the resilience of communities, experts from various countries formed AB-AOC.
The alliance, led by SEM Marc Roch Christian KABORE and headquartered in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, consists of eight member countries. Biodigestor technology refers to the use of technical devices to produce biogas from organic matter through the action of bacteria in the absence of air. This technology offers access to clean energy for cooking and lighting, as well as high-value organic fertilizers for animal and plant production.
AB-AOC's objectives include supporting the development and establishment of a biodigestor technology sector in member countries, fostering expertise in biodigestor technology, and advocating for its widespread adoption
